School Daze

What with all the excitement the past couple of weeks, I forgot to mention that Britt started back to school this month.

She graciously agreed to pose for a first-day-of-school photo while Poppa shopped for the school supplies we forgot to buy until the last minute:

First Day of School

Isn't she getting big? I think she's totally outgrown that car seat.

Sadly, I've fallen out of the habit of taking loads of pictures of her all the time, mostly because most of them look something like this:

First Day of School

Britt's classroom is the last door on the right. You see that tall dark figure hovering? You'll never guess who that is:

Britt's School

Why, it's Mr. Anxiety, of course! He does that for at least five minutes every time we drop her off. And then, on the way home, he'll describe everything she's wearing that day, and he'll ask me at least twice if she's in her classroom. We didn't leave her wandering the halls, right?

That's what I get for bitchin'

Since unloading all my troubles in that last post, I've been knocked flat by the flu. Four solid days of severe respiratory issues and intense physical pain.

I woke up this morning feeling for the first time like I might actually survive. Then I looked around at the dirty dishes, dirty laundry, dirty floors, and books and toys littering every surface of my home and felt pain of a different sort.

(***sigh***)

I guess I'd better get busy.

Hurry up and wait

Well, shit the bed. Our vacation's been postponed.

Of course it has.

The OKC trade show just wrapped up, next weekend is the Vegas trade show and there's another one in Mississippi the next weekend, leaving the store short-handed. After they're over, then we can finally go on vacation. After Britt starts back to school.

But we are going. If I have to knock Mikey over the head and tie him up and load him into the truck, we are going.

So I've been studying our lodging choices. Mikey and I both fell in love with this one, until we noticed that it's 20 minutes outside of town. After wading through hundreds of abominations that haven't been redecorated since 1985, I finally narrowed it down to a few possibilities like this one. Or this one. No, wait -- I like this one better. I think.

Anyway, Britt drew us a lovely map to help us find our way:

She's such a good helper.
